Named for the 1817 mansion — the Grange House — which sits in Grange Park, this neighbourhood was once home to the elites of Toronto, reflected by many mansions along Beverly Street which still stand today. In the 1900s, Grange Park underwent a transformation, as more and more working class immigrants moved into the area, building row houses throughout the neighbourhood.In modern day, the Grange House and several mansions on Beverly are the only remnants of the neighbourhood’s prominent past, and now Grange Park is better known for its diverse population and neighbouring areas like Chinatown. The elites are gone, and this neighbourhood is home to young professionals and small families, which is evident in its youthful feel.Due to its central location, the neighbourhood is crossed by multiple major thoroughfares — Spadina, Dundas, Queen, College and University.
