About Henry Farm
To nobody’s surprise — this neighbourhood began as a farm, owned by Henry Mulholland in 1806; Mulholland sold the land, but it was later bought back by his descendent George Stewart Henry, who would go on to become the premier of Ontario. The modern day neighbourhood was developed in the 1950s, adopting the name of Henry Farm, and it has been a desirable area for families ever since.Henry farm is divided down the middle by highway 404 — to the west it’s mostly residential, and to the east, there’s a large commercial space. On winding residential streets lined with mature trees, you’ll find a mix of large bungalows, back-splits, and 2-storey houses. Henry Farm condos are evenly dispersed throughout the area, but tend to be located near major roads. The neighbourhood has several large green spaces, including Haven Park to the west, which has walking trails and views of the Don River. Most businesses in the area are located in the commercial section to the east — there you’ll find an array of service-based businesses, restaurants, and retail spaces. There’s a shopping centre just north of the neighbourhood, plus several family-friendly restaurants located along Sheppard Avenue.Entertainment options tend to be recreation-focused; there are gyms, athletic clubs, baseball diamonds, and a large community centre with a range of activities at Parkway Forest Community Centre. Parents have several schools to choose from for their children, and the comfort of knowing that there’s a hospital within their neighbourhood. The condo scene in Henry Farm is surprisingly active — there are over 15 buildings in the area with more in development. A nice aspect of this neighbourhood is that there are some older buildings here as well, which offer units with larger floor plans and cheaper price tags.If on the other hand, you’re looking for something more modern, you can still expect to save some money with Henry Farm condos.
